TMC-MIZUHO Research Laboratories

Professor & Head :
Overview
The TMC-MIZUHO Research Laboratories at ACTREC is a centralized, state-of-the-art core facility developed to support cutting-edge research carried out by clinicians, scientists of Tata Memorial Centre (TMC). The facility is strategically developed to bridge laboratory research with clinical application by integrating advanced cellular, molecular, genomic, and metabolomic platforms, thereby enabling high-impact translational research in oncology and related disciplines. The facility hosts a comprehensive cell culture facility, equipped with the latest technologies including automated cell counters, digital microscopes, and an automated cryopreservation system (CYTIVA) to ensure standardized and efficient handling of cell lines and primary cells. These resources are routinely utilized for cancer biology, drug screening, and mechanistic studies
The facility is also equipped to perform Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows — from library preparation to sequencing — for applications including whole genome, transcriptome, and targeted panel sequencing. To complement NGS, we have in house high-end systems such as digital PCR and quantitative RT-PCR for accurate validation and quantification of gene expression and mutations. In addition, the facility supports proteomic and metabolomic profiling with advanced analytical platforms such as: High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS-MS). These systems enable the profiling and quantification of proteins, peptides, and small molecules, contributing significantly to biomarker discovery and systems biology studies.
