The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, is at the forefront of cancer care. It specializes in advanced radiation therapies, offering treatments such as IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT, TBI/TMLI, and TSET. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art technology with two modern linear accelerators, including Helical Tomotherapy. Additionally, a dedicated integrated brachytherapy unit ensures comprehensive cancer treatment options. A significant addition is the National Hadron Facility, which began offering proton beam therapy using contemporary pencil beam scanning technology on August 15, 2023, enhancing the precision and effectiveness of cancer therapy. The Radiation Oncology team at ACTREC is comprised of highly skilled and site-specialized oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation technologists who are committed to providing personalized patient care.
The department provides comprehensive education and training programs for MD Radiotherapy residents, including lectures, journal clubs, and ward rounds, fostering the next generation of radiation oncologists. The department aims to enhance treatment outcomes and quality of life for cancer patients through its multidisciplinary approach.
