Day of Immunology 2022 ACTREC-MIG on “ Immunology & Vaccines” was conducted for students of Madhyamik School of Children’s Aid Society (https://www.casmumbai.in/) at Chermbur Children’s Home, Mankhurd, Mumbai on 2nd May, 2022.
This was grass-root level teaching to students of 7th to 10th standard. These are underprivileged children. This campaign was effort that students learn basics and advanced knowledge in field of Immunology through fun, drama/ interactive talk and quiz. Students enjoyed thoroughly and found it best memorable educational event.

Humanized mouse is a mouse carrying functioning human genes, cells, tissues, and/or organs. Humanized mice are commonly used as small animal models in biological and medical research for human therapeutics and in developing vaccines.
This event marked commemoration of excellent contribution of late Dr Shyam Somasundaram ‐ a CRI-ACTREC alumni while he worked at The Wistar Institute, Philadelphia.
We had 627 registered participants for this webinar. Event was streamed live on You Tube channel (https://bit.ly/2WgZIeX). Total of 808 video views were reported on 24th August on You Tube channel of the event proceedings.
Participants were college students, teachers and students/ staff from academic organizations, Research Institutes, basic researchers/ clinician-scientists, etc.

Emphasizing on significance of blood donation in times of Covid-19, Department of Transfusion Medicine (DTM), ACTREC in co-ordination with Public Relations Cell had organized a 2nd In-house Voluntary Blood Donation Camp 2021 on 30th June, 2021 at Retreat Multipurpose Hall, ACTREC.
Observing 7th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2021, a 7-day Yoga virtual “Yoga se Hoga” program was organized by Administration, ACTREC & co-ordinated by Public Relations Cell, ACTREC and Intas Oncology. Featuring a variety of yoga asans, yoga types, health and nutrition insights, the program was lead by Mr. Gaurav K., an expert yoga trainer.
Day of Immunology 2021 ACTREC -MIG was conducted successfully at ACTREC on 29th April, 2021. We had 473 participants registered for event. 194 connections were online. We had 473 registered participants for this webinar. Total of 194 participants including speakers/ panelists were online. As a part of campaign towards spreading Immunology Day celebrations, we had conducted CREATIVE MIND CONTEST for ACTREC staff and students and for ACTREC Alumni members – Life members, Affiliate members and Associate members in category of poetry, slogans, photos, sketches, paintings, videos/short films and rangoli. We had received 53 entries from ACTREC from 13 depts and 16 contestants. Similarly, 23 entries from ACTREC Alumni Association members from 9 ACTREC depts, 12 contestants and 2 Alumni life members outside ACTREC. DoI day event included talks by invited speakers, followed by Panel discussion on COVID diagnostics, logistics, government policies, biochemistry markers, seroconversion and vaccine efficacy results and comments from medical experts in the field.
ACTREC Alumni Association Third Annual Meet was conducted on 30th March, 2021. Title of event was "Global Health Issues and Drug Development Challenges". Total of 75 student, college teachers and academician participants including speakers attended the event online. Invited speakers were alumni of CRI- ACTREC and also were affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Instituite or Mumbai University. Invited talks by guest alumni Dr. Dimpu Gogoi, Dr Harish Bharambe, Dr Dilip Badgujar and Dr Shrikrishna Dadke, were followed by Panel discussion. It covered questions on how institute can create opportunities for alumni to stay connected with alma mater and how alumni can give back to alma mater.
Webinar on „Immunology and Informatics‟ formed third day of Bioinfomatics Webinar and workshop on “From Biology to Omics” and was conducted on 12th March, 2021. Total of 110 participants were online. Most of them appreciated topic selection and information covered in their feedback form.
TMC-Institutional Ethics Committee-III (IEC-III), ACTREC organized one day workshop with support from Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) on “Biomedical Research Ethics” for ACTREC research groups of scientists and clinicians. Workshop covered topics related to clinical research ethics, monitoring of biomedical studies, consent forms, procedures and formalities of multicentric studies with demonstration of online submission of new and revised projects to IEC.
Department of clinical Pharmacology, ACTREC, conducted 3-day workshop, PUMAS (Pharmaceutical modelling and simulation) from 6th to 8th feb 2020. More than 20 participants from across India participated to learn PKPD data analysis. At the end of the workshop participants had an overview of the pumas toolkit and its utility in modern age computing.
Flow Cytometry Facility at ACTREC organized one-day workshop on "Advanced methods on Flow Cytometry data analysis" by Flow Jo in collaboration with BD Biosciences for students and scientists. The invited speakers introduced single cell multiomics, Rhapsody, high parameter single cell immunophenotyping and Cluster analysis.
Workshop on clinical research methods designed exclusively for early career oncologist
Every year, in December, ACTREC organizes labs and facilities visit for the restricted number of students from few colleges in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. This year, the virtual tour of ACTREC campus was displayed through ACTREC website and YouTube channel. “ACTREC: An Overview' comprises of an hour long visit of few research laboratories and facilities including experiences of researchers in the campus was enjoyed by more students than usual.
Considering the Covid threat all over the world but to keep the tradition alive, this year NRSM 2020 was conducted virtually via one day webinar at ACTREC. Two esteemed speakers who has effectively translated the high end technologies from the bench to the bedside were invited. Prof. Siddhartha Laskar from Tata Memorial Hospital, in his plenary talk discuss about radiation oncology from pitchblende to particle and Dr. Partha Majumdar, Distinguished Professor and Founding Director NIBMG, expressed his views on genomic drivers of oral cancer and their proximal metastasis. Along with these stimulating eminent oral presentations, few aspiring researchers also presented their research work as part of Oral presentation competition.
