Internet and electronic access policy

The library is WiFi enabled and any laptop user while connecting to internet should take prior permission from the authority.

‘Internet’ facility in library enables the user to access information beyond the confines of its own collection. The facility is enabled to support researchers for scientific activities. It allows access to ideas, information and commentary from around the globe. Currently, it is an unregulated medium. As such, while it offers access to a wealth of material that is personally, professionally and culturally enriching to individuals of all ages, it also enables access to some materials that may be offensive or illegal. The Library monitors to certain extent over the information accessed through the Internet. It is the users responsibility to use it wisely and appropriately.

To ensure the equitable delivery of all Library resources, the amount of time that staff has to provide Internet instruction is limited.

Internet user must:

  • Follow all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Avoid any activities that might be disruptive to other library users
  • Make no attempt to damage equipment, alter settings or install any software.
  • Respect copyright laws and honor software-licensing agreements.

Library has subscribed and enabled many e-resources for its library users. Copyrights of these contents are with the respective publishers. Access to any full texts from these e-resources is under certain terms and conditions and all are ‘licensed products’. It is appreciated to use the contents on these e-resources judiciously and carefully to avoid any breach of contract with the publishers.

The subscribed e-contents are property of publishers and are protected by copyright laws. In gist contents of the agreement goes as below.

  • All the ACTREC members are authorized to use subscribed e-content.
  • Access to any single article for view, download, save on local storage device for personal use for scientific activities is permissible under the agreement.
  • Systematic download of series of articles from any journal issue is against the copyright law and it leads to breach of contract.
