RESEARCH

Single-cell studies are transforming our understanding of complex diseases by enabling us to uncover and examine cellular diversity at an unprecedented level. However, the nature of counts data obtained from these studies poses challenges which need to be effectively addressed during the computational analyses. Our lab focuses on the development of novel computational toolkits to simplify and improve the analyses of single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data. In the context of cancers, we will apply these tools to arrive at meaningful answers to questions such as - What is the cellular makeup of tumors and their microenvironments? How do tumor cells respond to treatments? Can we identify and characterize rare persister cell populations? What are some pathways that these persister cells rely upon and how do they vary in distinct microenvironments? What is the interplay and interaction between tumor cells, immune cells, and stromal cells that leads to the establishment of an immunosuppressive microenvironment? Eventually, we aim to generate and provide a comprehensive resource which would enable researchers to conveniently access analyses that provide some clear answers to these questions.

Join the team - We are looking for motivated Master’s and prospective PhD students to join our group. If development of computational pipelines and their active application to seek answers to questions such as the ones listed above interests you, reach out to amartya[dot]singh[at]actrec[dot]gov[dot]in with your CV along with a 250-500 word statement of intent.
